Concussion Management

A concussion is a traumatic brain injury induced by biomechanical forces. A concussion may be caused by a direct force to the head but may also be caused by an indirect force to the body.

An individual may experience a variety of signs and symptoms. These may include but are not limited to headaches, difficulty concentrating, dizziness, fogginess, feeling slowed down, sensitivity to light and noise, balance problems and difficulty with memory. It is important to note that you do not have to lose consciousness to be diagnosed with a concussion.

Research has shown that accessing physiotherapy from a concussion trained therapist increases your chance of returning to your daily activities earlier. An individualized treatment plan is developed to assist with specific rehabilitation strategies, return to function, return to learn, return to work and/or return to sport.

Charlene Storey is an ImPACT trained concussion physiotherapist at Nomad Therapies. She has over 10 years of experience helping people return to function after a concussion. If you are experiencing any signs or symptoms of a concussion and/or are having difficulty returning to function, Charlene would be happy to meet with you and develop a treatment plan specific to your needs.
